Consulting at MarketStretch is done a bit different than at traditional consultingcompanies. Although we can provide consulting services from the beginning, we often start by working in a business to gain knowledge, experience and trust. We use our experience in business, sales and counseling psychology, not to mention aptitudes, up-bringing and other practices such as meditation and yoga. However, this is not counseling and Doug Hall is not licensed.
With that said, there is nothing more exciting to me than going to a business to help them with an issue or to help them reach their potential. It doesn't have to take a long time. In fact, the Good Consultant doesn't get the business owner to reach their goal. The Good Consultant helps the business owner to help themselves reach their goals and they help them get their faster than they normally would on their own or through some other means.
One of the core benefits I find for my own business is when I ask myself functional questions. Functional questions are core questions related specifically to your business. In addition to doing regular meditation and other self-awareness exercises on one' own, an activity I like to do with my clients is initiate spontaneous brainstorming sessions, which often results in these questions coming up at times when you least expect them. You can almost feel them when they arrive. Another way to get at them is to not avoid or run away from challenges or times when "nothing" is happening. In fact, these are the times when it pays to be patient while the answers to your functional questions present themselves.
